Exhibition at Kunstraum Dornbirn

Judith Fegerl. "on/"

For her exhibition “on/” at Kunstraum Dornbirn, Judith Fegerl has developed new sculptural and two-dimensional works. The pieces presented in the former industrial hall are partly powered by electricity, which explains the solar system mounted on the façade of the space. In this way Fegerl makes normally invisible processes of energy generation visible within an exhibition context. The procedure is typical for the artist: in her works, she always treats the respective location in relation to the existing infrastructure that supports the exhibition. Her multimedia work opens up an exciting experimental space for exploring the possibilities and limits of electrical energy as a sculptural and visual resource and material. At the same time, she points to institutions’ efforts to attain sustainability and addresses the overarching cultural-political system.
